Ukraine
Ukraine is a sovereign state which is situated in Eastern Europe, a parliamentary-presidential republic. There are a lot of historical and natural attractions, scenic landscapes, rich culture and folk traditions which annually attract millions of tourists into the country from around the world.
The country's territory is 603,700 sq. km, population – 48 million people, the capital is Kyiv.
Climate
The climate of Ukraine is predominantly temperate continental, and only in the southern part of the Crimea it is subtropical Mediterranean climate. Average temperatures in summer vary from +19 to +23°C, in winter it is from minus 7 in the north-eastern regions to +4°C in the Crimea. Weather varies considerably due to frequent cyclones and anticyclones.
Currency
The national currency is Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH) which includes 100 kopeks. Banknotes of 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 UAH as well as coins of 50, 25, 10, 5, 2 and 1 kopeks are circulated. Currency can be exchanged in any bank as well as in currency exchange offices.
Religion
Most of Ukraine citizens are Orthodox. There is Islam, Catholic, Judaism and other religions as well.
Science and Education
Great attention is paid to Science and Education in Ukraine. The country has the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 1400 research institutes, 1009 higher education establishments which house more than 2,4 million students, of whom more than 27000 foreign citizens from 130 countries.
Resources
Ukraine is rich in natural resources such as iron ore, coal, manganese, nickel, oil and gas etc. The country has successfully developed metallurgy, machinery, instrumentation, aerospace, processing, chemical, pharmaceutical industries etc.
